From 30 June to 3 July 2026, Astana hosted the fourth annual IAC Eurasia Arbitration Week (EAW26), bringing together leading arbitration and dispute resolution professionals from across Eurasia and beyond. This year, EAW26 attracted more than 700 registered participants and featured 65 speakers from over 30 countries.
One of the highlights of the week for TKS Disputes was the recognition of the firm’s partner, Bakhyt Tukulov. On 1 July, Bakhyt was awarded the AIFC Court and IAC Chief Justice and IAC Chairman Medal for his outstanding contribution to the development of the AIFC Court and the International Arbitration Centre and the promotion of international dispute resolution.
On the same day, Bakhyt spoke on the panel Cross-Border M&A Disputes: Why They Arise & How to Resolve. The discussion explored the causes of disputes arising from cross-border M&A transactions, the legal and commercial issues involved in complex M&A disputes, and the challenges of resolving them across different jurisdictions. Particular attention was given to the role of arbitration and alternative dispute resolution in facilitating the efficient resolution of cross-border commercial disputes.
On 2 July, TKS Disputes and Peter & Kim jointly hosted a Drinks Reception for EAW26 participants.
The reception featured the official presentation of Commentary to the AIFC Court Rules, edited by Bakhyt Tukulov and Roman Khodykin. The book provides a comprehensive analysis of the AIFC Court Rules, with detailed procedural commentary and practical guidance for judges and legal practitioners.
The presentation at EAW26 introduced the book to an international audience of arbitration and dispute resolution professionals gathered in Astana from around the world.
