Bakhyt Tukulov Moderates Panel at the 2026 Astana Summit on Commercial Dispute Resolution in China

TKS Disputes Partner Bakhyt Tukulov moderated the concluding panel discussion at the 2026 Astana Summit on Commercial Dispute Resolution in China, held in Astana on 10 July 2026.

The Summit was jointly organised by the Beijing Arbitration Commission / Beijing International Arbitration Court (BAC/BIAC), the AIFC Court and the International Arbitration Centre (IAC). It brought together leading practitioners, arbitrators, academics and in-house counsel from China, Kazakhstan and other jurisdictions to discuss current developments in international commercial dispute resolution.

Since 2013, BAC/BIAC has organised its Annual Summits in major international arbitration centres, including London, Paris, New York and Singapore. The 2026 programme expanded this dialogue to Central Asia, reflecting the region’s growing importance in cross-border investment and commercial dispute resolution.

Mr. Tukulov moderated the Summit’s concluding session, “From Oilfields to Renewables: Investment, Regulation and Energy Disputes,” which explored the legal and commercial challenges arising from the transformation of the energy sector. The discussion focused on the impact of cross-border investment, evolving regulatory frameworks and the changing landscape of energy dispute resolution.

The session featured distinguished speakers from leading Chinese law firms, including Liu Hongchuan, Partner at Jingtian & Gongcheng, and Guohua (Annie) Wu, Senior Partner at Jincheng Tongda & Neal, who shared their perspectives on current developments in China’s energy disputes practice and cross-border investment.

The Summit provided a valuable platform for the exchange of practical experience among legal professionals from different jurisdictions and highlighted the growing importance of dialogue between China and Central Asia in shaping the future of international dispute resolution.

TKS Disputes remains committed to contributing to the development of international dispute resolution through active participation in leading professional forums and collaboration with the global legal community.
